Every year the snow seems to tease us in early October. It settles high into the mountains filling our heads with thoughts of snow-covered trees, light fluffy powder, and après-ski beverages with friends. And every year, it disappears just as quickly as it arrived. Leaving the excitement of winter permeating the air.

However, all is not lost, as October signifies both the arrival of several Fernie Brewing Co. new seasonal and limited release beers, and an array of fresh-faced, adventure seeking visitors to Fernie.

One crew of visitors who can be spotted from some distance away, are our cheerful Aussie friends, looking to call Fernie home for the season. With their perpetual high-level of stoke, and ability to wear board shorts and flip-flops (or as they call them, thongs) in a variety of unruly fall weather, their appreciation for winter is contagious.

To mark their imminent arrival to town, we’ve launched the latest addition to our IPA Series as an ode to our Australian friends. The new OiiiPA Aussie IPA is a tropical brew full of Aussie hop varietals, such as Enigma and Vic Secret, which are not typically seen in BC beers.

This IPA starts with a malt base similar to our core favourite Lone Wolf IPA, with an emphasis on late hop/dry hops. The result is a less bitter IPA that has fruity and tropical characteristics, reminiscent of a sunny day in Australia.

Available for a limited time, this beer has already won over the hearts of our local IPA lovers, as a great brew to share with friends, whether they be new or old, skier or boarder, Aussie or not.
