A huge Cheers to Charity!

Since the grand reopening of our newly renovated Tasting Room early July, Fernie Brewing Co. has been busier than ever. Luckily, this means so has our Cheers to Charity! This program runs year-round, featuring many Charities, Clubs or Organizations who need funds to help launch or grow a special and local initiative. With all profits from the sale of a $5 flight of four beers being passed straight along, it’s a sure-fire way to support the local community. So, cheers!

We kicked off our busy summer with our first Charity featured being Fernie Friends for Friends, for whom we have a very close and personal tie to, here at FBC. Our small mountain town has so many wonderful things to offer, whether it be fresh powder, world class fishing, or unique local business’, but what truly sets us apart is our strong sense of community. Born out of personal experience, Friends for Friends exemplifies this in their commitment to providing support for those in our community who are affected by cancer.

The focus of the charity is easing the financial burden of those going through treatment out of town and the travel costs associated with it. They also provide support here at home, whether it is cooking meals, helping with shopping, or simply being there as a friend. They are setting an example of what it means to be a good neighbour and we feel lucky to be able to be a part of their mission.

Thankfully, with the somewhat extreme summer heat of 2017, our customers have been thirstier than ever. Plus, with this local Charity being close to so many hearts of Fernie, Fernie Friends for Friends hit an all-time Cheers to Charity record, receiving a cheque for $6,970.00!

For them, it means so much. For us, this means a happier and healthier community that we are so very proud to be a part of.

With the increased love of a cold beer, the long hot summer of 2017 also brought with it a need for funds to help tackle the ever-growing BC Wildfires. Subsequently, next on our list of recipients was BC Wildfires. Whilst much of our province has been affected, and being a town that thrives in the outdoors, this cause was also close to our hearts and we made a quick decision to support their amazing efforts.

As Fernie has grown smokier and with the closure of all backcountry in the Fernie area, we are incredibly happy that our Long Weekend Tasting Room traffic resulted in a strong, final push to take their donation to $3,502.50.

We want to thank everyone for doing their rain dances and purchasing our Flights for those tackling the devastating fires across our Province and Kootenay area.

Thanks to everyone who has dropped in, biked out, found us accidentally, or planned a road trip across BC to get to us, your presence in our Tasting Room has made this the biggest summer of donations yet, taking our every growing Cheers to Charity donation reaching a grand total of $66,401.83!

Although Summer may be coming to a close, Cheers to Charity never ends! We’re still open 7 days a week, and are now donating to the building of the Fernie Flow Trail, who, once the backcountry ban lifts in coming weeks, will be back to work, creating more epic trails for all locals, semi-locals and out of towners to enjoy.

Keep an eye out for updates on upcoming recipients by following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. For more information on all things FBC, head to www.ferniebrewing.com.
