Giving back to the Community.
Since December 2013, we've been running our "Cheers to Charity!" Donation Program, which gives back to our amazing local community. At just $6 for a flight of four beers, fresh from the taps, it's a great way to find your FBC favourite. Plus, as all profits go to a variety of worthy local charities, organizations or clubs, you're always drinking for a very worthy cause.
Flights are available during Tasting Room opening hours, and since the program started, we (and you!), have raised over
$143, 924.33 so far! So thanks.
The program was set up as a way of giving back. Here at Fernie Brewing Co., we are so fortunate to do business in the Elk Valley and so wanted to find a way of giving back to our local community.
Due to the large number of requests FBC receives each year for monetary, and other, donations, as a way of being able to commit to larger donation amounts, Cheers to Charity was created.
Recipients are rotated anywhere on a 4 or 6-week period, depending on the time of year and predicted traffic in the Tasting Room. Recipients can be registered charities, clubs or organizations.
There are four main requirements of FBC’s Cheers to Charity Program:
- Donations must directly benefit our local Fernie community
- Benefit a group, as opposed to an individual or a team
- Recipients must be of legal drinking age
- Requesting funding to help programs, which without support, would not be able to operate
Hopeful recipients need to apply via our Contact Page, explaining full details of their fundraising, and where exactly the funds will go. Recipients are chosen based on the season, their cause and their appropriateness to FBC’s mandate.
Our most recent recipient was Avalanche Canada South Rockies, whom received a cheque for $5156.25 bringing our "Cheers to Charity!" donations to date, to $143,924.33
Our current recipient is Angel Flight East Kootenay a fully volunteer run charity providing FREE air transportation to residents of the East Kootenay to medical appointments in Kelowna and further afield.
