Summertime is Festival Time!

(Fernie, BC) – Summer is on. No more inter-season ponderings, with a lack of things to do, or simply waiting for something to start. It’s started and as far as the Craft-Beer world is concerned, it’s a hive of beer-fuelled activity left, right and centre.

Although Festivals take place year round, June sees an increase in beer-related goings on, kicking off with the infamous Vancouver Craft Beer Week (VCBW). A week-long festival, celebrating all things beer, it brings out the beer-lovers of the Lower Mainland and beyond, setting the stage for numerous festivals to follow in its wake. Now owning an educated and craft-brewed pallet, craft beer fans are ready for the summer months, ready to take on whatever hop or flavour filled beer hits the shelves.

[P1060264] With the Lower Mainland being one of Fernie Brewing Co.’s biggest markets, FBC partook in VCBW, sharing the FBC love and brews at the River Rock Casino tasting on June 7th & 8th. Their local Sales Representatives were inundated with positive responses, smiling faces and big cheers.

Upcoming festivals for Fernie Brewing Co. include the Fairmont 2nd Annual East Kootenay Beer Festival on June 15th, the New! Edmonton BeerFest on June 21st & 22nd, Crowfoot Big Game, Small Beer Event in Calgary as well as The Libertine Public House’s “Pig-a-Palooza” on June 22nd. July then sees the Canada Day Beer Festival at Craft in Calgary on July 1st and Tip ‘n Taste at Cascades Casino in Langley July 5th. Full upcoming event information can be found at: www.ferniebrewing.com/events.

Closer to home, Fernie Brewing Co. is excited to announce the arrival of the infamous craft-beer writer, Joe Wiebe, to Fernie. On Tuesday June 18th from 6PM, Joe will be at the Fernie Arts Station to launch his new book “Craft Beer Revolution: The Insider’s Guide to BC Breweries” as part of his province wide tour. A fact-filled, interesting read for anyone who enjoys a good brew, Joe promises a great evening, where you can purchase a book, courtesy of Polar Peek Books, get i autographed and hear excerpts. All whilst enjoying a cold Fernie brew and a taste of FBC infused recipes from a collection of bars and restaurants in Fernie. Free of charge, beery-good times indeed!

Joe kicked off his book launch in the Lower Mainland, making his way towards the most easterly Craft Brewery in BC (Fernie), but not before he was featured on Global BC, regaling the refreshing taste of Fernie Brewing Co.’s What the Huck – Huckleberry Wheat Ale. Watch him and the Huck in action here: http://globalnews.ca/video/607074/craft-beer-revolution/.

With changes in season, come changes in products. Back in April, Fernie Brewing Co. welcomed a new 650ml specialty bottle to their lineup, the Rusty Tractor Weizenbock. Strong, unfiltered, malty, red in colour and big (like many a tractor), to replace their winter award-winning favourite Sap Sucker Maple Porter. So to keep track of product changes, Fernie Brewing Co. have a new online Trade Resource on their revamped website. For full pricing, availability, how to buy, FBC Sales Reps contact details and marketing resources, check out the Trade Resource page here: http://www.ferniebrewing.com/trade-resources.

With a busy summer ahead and an invaluable staff member leaving Fernie Brewing Co. next month, FBC is hiring! Looking for a beer and office savvy individual to take on the role of Office Administrator & Store Manager. It’s a full-time, permanent position starting mid-July. Full job description can be found here: http://www.ferniebrewing.com/fbc-is-hiring-again.

To cater to the increase in people’s beer requirements closer to home for the summer, the FBC Store is now onto summer opening hours of Mon-Sat 1-5PM, open until 6PM on Friday. Pop by for cold fresh product, keg pickups, growler refills, merchandise and if you’re passing by Friday at 3PM, come join the FBC Tour! And if you can’t make it, check out the talented Dylan Siggers’ video here: http://vimeo.com/63611531 to get you in the mood.
